Course Description: Advanced
Project Management™ is a demanding
and intense two-day course that combines
all of PMBoK's Knowledge Areas into realistic
simulations. Students will apply techniques
in team and individual situations throughout
the workshop. Emphasis will be placed on
planning and advanced techniques in scheduling,
tracking and cost control. One major project
will be utilized throughout the course.
Teams and individuals will be presented
with real world situations requiring accurate
and timely decisions. Students will receive
comprehensive checklists that can be immediately
utilized on their own projects. It is recommended
that students who are completing the Certified
Project Manager certification take Advanced
Project Management immediately prior to
the Simulation Examination. Participants
will be prepared to meet time, budget and
performance objectives.
Working in team environments, students
will:
• Discuss integration management
and the components of a project plan.
• Facilitate a project kickoff planning
session.
• Develop a WBS and conduct bottom-up
estimating.
• Implement project management processes
and best practices.
• Learn and be tested on techniques
for estimating.
• Practice advanced techniques for
managing the critical path.
• Be presented with challenging
tracking, scope change, and replanning
situations.
This course covers the Project Management
Knowledge Areas from PMI's Project Management
Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and is a required
course for the PMLG Certified Project Manager
Program (CPM). It also provides excellent
preparation for taking the Project Management
Professional (PMP®) examination. (PMBOK)
