Bill Stewart: Profile
A PMO and portfolio management thought leader,
Bill Stewart has over 30 years of successful
project and program management experience
across a wide range of initiatives. A former
Infantry Officer, Army
Ranger and Aviator, Bill
developed dynamic experiential based leadership training programs
that are still in use by the military today.
After leaving the service, he was a Program Manager for President Reagan
on the Grace Commission, helping to identify and
develop business processes and systems
for the federal government. As an internal
management consultant for Phillips Petroleum
and Ernst & Young he was responsible
for implementing a wide range of business
solutions for Fortune 500 corporations.
During the 1980’s and 90’s,
Bill was instrumental in the inception and
development of the program office concept
and continues to lead highly successful implementations of portfolio
and program management across major corporations
and organizations. He regularly coaches
executives, helping them move their organizations to a culture of disciplined planning and execution of strategic vision. He
is active in PMI and served for 7 years
on the board of the Information Systems
Specific Interest Group. He created the
International Program Office Summit, a think
tank for program and portfolio professionals
and now in its 7th year. Bill is considered
by many as the father of project management
immersion training, having developed experiential
based training programs that rapidly mature the leadership
and project management skills of organizational
leaders.
This includes the Certified Project Manager (CPM) and IT CPM Boot Camp certification program, considered by many as the most effective project management and leadership program available anywhere.
An exciting motivational speaker, he is
regularly asked to conduct presentations
and workshops for major corporations and
organizations internationally. He will be a key note speaker at the World Project Management Conference in Singapore and will also speak at the PMI Global Congress in Atlanta. Bill’s
extensive knowledge and experience in project,
program and portfolio management coupled
with his passion to share his knowledge
and experiences, make his presentations
exciting, informative and highly motivating.
Interviews with Bill have appeared in such
periodicals as CEO and CIO magazines, PM
Networks Career Tracks and this year’s
PMI Leadership issue of PM Network. He appeared
on CNBC as a project management expert and will appear in July on CNBC's World Business Review with General Norman
Schwarzkopf. Bill will be publishing several books this year; “The PMO Survival Guide” “Leadership is Not a Job Title”,
and the "Ranger Handbook for Project Managers". While many professionals may be content on the theory and concepts of project management and leadership, Bill continues to focus on his life long ambition to continue to develop outstanding leaders.
