Course Description: This
comprehensive three-day project management
workshop is an intensive, hands-on course
providing project managers with the skills,
knowledge and tools to be successful. This
workshop provides sound techniques for planning,
estimating, tracking and controlling projects.
Throughout the course, attendees participate
in realistic simulations that enhance their
skills.
• Facilitate project kickoff planning
sessions while working in a team
environment.
• Coach and mentor project leads
and team members.
• Implement project management processes
and best practices that are the
foundation for project success.
• Break project objectives into
measurable and quantifiable deliverables.
• Use the latest techniques for
translating deliverables into accurate,
detailed
schedules.
• Identify the tasks and estimate
the resources required to produce those
deliverables.
• Identify dependencies and calculate
the critical path.
• Use effective techniques for risk
planning and management.
• Students will work in teams, planning
numerous projects, practicing
techniques, and presenting their solutions.
Day 1: The focus is on
proper project initiation. Students will
learn how to quickly identify the vision,
need and objective of the project. They
will prepare a high level WBS, high level
charter and high level risk identification.
Student will also learn the leadership and
facilitation skills necessary to be successful.
Day 2: Students will learn
how to facilitate planning workshops, develop
communications plans, create project charters,
build a detailed WBS, and implement best
practices for building teams.
Day 3: Students will learn
how to translate deliverables into accurate,
detailed schedules, how to assign resources
and estimates, how to build risk response
plans, and how to track, control and close-out
their projects.
This course conforms to
the nine Project Management Knowledge areas
from PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge
(PMBOK) and is a required course for the
PMLG Certified Project Manager Program (CPM).
It also provides excellent preparation for
taking the Project Management Professional
(PMP®) examination.
